Adoption Journey

Adopting a Maine Coon from The Maine Cat Lady is a thoughtful and rewarding process. Once you've made the decision to welcome one our kittens into your family, we're here to guide you every step of the way. We will respond to any questions or inquiries you have during your decision-making process, ensuring you feel confident and informed.

When you're ready, you can join our waitlist for the next available litter. We typically have 2-3 litters per year, and our goal is to match each kitten with the perfect family.

For families who need assistance with transportation, travel companion services are available upon request. To help you prepare for your new Maine Coon, we encourage you to explore our Basic Care information below and check out our Storefront for recommended products once available.

Basic Care

Maine Coons thrive when their unique needs are met with consistent, attentive care.

Nutrition

Main Coons require a specialized diet to support their large size and overall health.

  • Provide high-quality, specialty dry cat food designed for large-breed cats.

  • Supplement their diet with fresh organ meats from your local butcher to ensure they receive essential nutrients.

Dental Care

To maintain good oral health:

  • Brush their teeth once a week using a cat-safe toothpaste and toothbrush.

  • Regular brushing helps prevent plaque buildup and keeps their gums healthy.

Parasite Prevention

Keeping your Maine Coon parasite-free is essential.

  • Administer routine de-wormer treatments as recommended by your veterinarian.

  • Use flea and tick prevention throughout the year to protect their skin and coat.

Coat Care

Maine Coons have long, luxurious fur that can table without regular maintenance.

  • Brush their coat several times per week to prevent mats and reduce shedding.

  • Regular grooming also helps distribute natural oils and keeps their fur soft and healthy.
